WorkCamp 2026

What is WorkCamp:  For one week you will become a part of a community of dozens of Catholic teenagers.  Through many discussions, delights, challenges, and reflections, you will gain new friendships; you will gain self-confidence in your faith; you will inspire others; you will be inspired.  Through your selfless service and hard work, you will make the poor and needy shed tears of gratitude and amazement. You yourself will shed tears from God’s Grace and God’s Love.   You will find peace; you will find joy.  You will want to come back year after year. 

The Basics:

  • When is it: June 20th (Saturday afternoon) – June 26th (Friday afternoon)

  • Who is eligible:  Anyone currently in High school 

​

  • Cost: $100-200 per teen (see below for details)

​

  • LAST DAY TO REGISTER: Sunday, February 15th (See below for link)

Step 1: Ask Questions:

Step 2: Register online & Pay Your Deposit

  • Online Registration LINK: Contact tmarino@shasaints.org if you need help.

  • Make a $100 deposit per teen (written out to Sacred Heart, Attention Workcamp):

  • You can drop off a check at the next meeting, drop it off or send it to the rectory (Sacred Heart of Jesus Rectory 130 Keating Dr Winchester VA 22601).

Step 3: Recruit Adult Volunteers:

  • Recruit or sign up to be an Adult Volunteer for one or more of the many needed roles (Send me an email or text if interested):

  • Adult crew leader for entire Workcamp week. 

  • Adult contractor (help at least two days with projects before, during, or after the Workcamp week).

  • Homebase or Nursing volunteer for one or more days.

  • Help with one or more days of onsite volunteering (security monitors).

Step 4: Attend Monthly Meetings:

  • Attend monthly meetings: (Sundays evenings: 6:30-8:00pm) @ Sacred Heart: Jan 18th, Feb 15th, Mar 15th, Apr 19th, May 17th) in the Sacred Heart Academy Multi-Purpose Room.

Step 5: Earn Money towards your fundraising quota:

  • Attend fundraisers and send letters to earn money towards your fundraising quota ($500 per teen):

  • Letter Writing Requirement: Send out at least five letters to potential Workcamp donors by April 19th OR make $50 donation out of pocket [Click here for Letter Writing Instructions and a Letter Writing Template to modify and use]. 

  • Mulching Requirement: Participate in at least one full day or two half days of mulching (Most Saturdays: 3/21-5/9) OR make $50 donation out of pocket

  • Fundraiser options and how much each event counts towards your fundraising goal:

    • Feb 15th: Possibly something; TBD

    • Now-Apr 19th: Letter Writing: 100% of donation

    • Mar 21st: Mulching $50-$75

    • Mar 28th: Mulching $50-$75

    • Apr 11th: Mulching $50-$75

    • Apr 18th: Mulching $50-75

    • Apr 25th: Mulching $50-75

    • May 1st: Apple Blossom Events $50-$75

    • May 2nd: Apple Blossom Events $50-$75

    • May 9th: Mulching $50-$75
